7-11 Offensive & Defensive Dinking

15-20 min 2 Pickleballs, full court
Setup
Both players start at the Kitchen line (NVZ) directly across from each other (cross-court or straight ahead).
Drill Instructions
1. One player is the 'attacker' and the other is the 'defender' for the duration of the round. 2. The attacker starts the rally with a shot from the baseline and wins a point by forcing an error or hitting a winner. 3. The defender wins a point by simply getting the ball back and keeping the rally alive until the attacker misses. 4. Switch roles after one player reaches their target score.
Goal
The attacker attempts to reach 11 points before the defender reaches 7 points.
Make It Easier
Lower the defender's winning target to 5 points to give the attacker more margin for error.
Coach Tip
Focus on low contact points and use 'unattackable' dinks to bait your opponent into an error.
Make It Harder
Shrink the court boundaries to only the cross-court kitchen box to demand higher precision.
Avoid
Avoid rushing the point; the defender wins on your impatient mistakes.
